There’s a few different camps when it comes to when you should weigh yourself. Some like weekly, some daily. I love data, so daily works well for me, and I hope seeing my data helps you too. The downside to daily is that it can seem like you aren’t making any progress. I spent 2 years on a pretty clean paleo diet years back, so I can trust that dieting will average out and provide consistent weight loss over time. Remember, the time of day, how often you use the restroom, how much you’ve eaten and how much you’ve worked out, are just some of the many variables that can affect your weight, even if you’re weighing in at the same time every day.

This morning I took my girlfriend out to breakfast. I had a pretty simple bacon and eggs consisting of 2 scrambles eggs and 3 pieces of what were probably maple smoked bacon. I also had some of her sausage patty and about 1/2 of a 12oz breve.

Later in the day we went to run some errands and I picked up an iced americano with a splash of heavy cream from Starbucks and a pack of salt and pepper cashews from Walgreens. This was a single serving pack with 9g or carbs. Cashews aren’t very keto friendly, but in small quantities may be OK.

Later in the afternoon I cracked on 90g of cheddar and a lime spindrift. I also snuck in 15 pushups.

For dinner I had 1/3 lb taco meat with 44g of cheddar.

I’v started treating myself and had 1 serving of dark chocolate coming in at 170 calories, and 14g of carbs, which definitely is over the 20g rule of thumb carb limit on keto.

I didn’t think much about it at the time, but writing all of this out and reconciling my food journal has made me decide to try to tighten it up a bit. I know I can still lose weight eating chocolate like this, and even more. When I was eating paleo, I’d eat upwards of 2 servings of dark chocolate a day and still lost a considerable amount of weight in a relatively short amount of time.

My goal isn’t to live super keto forever, but to start to create better eating habits for myself.
